About Us

The Southeast Prevention Training Center (SE PTC) provides expert training and technical assistance to clinicians and community professionals across the Southeastern United States. A collaborative effort between the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Heersink School of Medicine and Wake Forest University School of Medicine, the SE PTC offers a wide range of innovative, evidence-based educational programs tailored to the evolving needs of today’s healthcare providers.

Committed to advancing sexual healthcare, with an emphasis on STI prevention, treatment and management, we work to strengthen the capacity of the public health workforce through practical, high-impact learning and support.

Mission Statement

The Southeast PTC is dedicated to building a stronger public health workforce by delivering innovative, evidence-based training designed to strengthen sexual and reproductive health services. We offer practical, expert-led training to help providers meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.

Our Services

The Southeast PTC supports sexual public and private clinicians, as well as other sexual health professionals through:

  • Innovative and evidence-based training programs tailored to relevant clinical training and public health needs
  • Technical assistance by providing additional support and capacity-building to enhance clinical service delivery and program effectiveness.
  • Support for health departments, educational institutions and community organizations to build workforce capacity and enhance care quality

Who We Serve

Our programs are designed for a broad range of healthcare professionals – physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and laboratorians who specialize in STI/HIV care or work in settings such as family planning, adolescent health, women’s health, primary care, and urgent or emergency care.
