Dr. Edward W. Hook III is a Professor of Medicine, Microbiology, and Epidemiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. As an internist with subspecialty expertise in Infectious Diseases, much of Dr. Hook’s academic career has been focused on management and prevention of STDs. He has served as a consultant, Chair, board, charter and committee member for several national and international organizations including the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Institute of Medicine, American Social Health Association, International Society for Sexually Transmitted Disease Research, International Union Against STIs, National Coalition for Sexual Health, and World Health Organization.
